As A Marketing Student…
Things are never going to be the same for me. Every time that I see a commercial I try to see what the marketing team was thinking when they made it. Every time that I see a display in a store I wonder why they decided to take the route that they did. When I am in a grocery store I wonder how much these companies paid to have their products at eye level. It is just the way it is when you are studying something I suppose.
The other day when I went to McDonald’s they were advertising cookies and coffee together. Is that something that people really like? It seems like that would be a gross combination to me, but I hate coffee so my opinion is biased. I was just wondering if that ad made people want cookies and coffee together. They had a picture of the chocolate chip cookies sitting next to the cup of coffee.
One last thing that I wonder about is why eating establishments choose one soda company over the other. As a consumer if I want a drink I go to Taco Bell or KFC just because they offer Pepsi there. I hate Coke, but I know a lot of people hate Pepsi. How do these places decide which one to go with? Are there some kind of perks that you get if you go with one or the other? I know that a lot of times it will decide where I am going to eat, and they have to take that into account as well.
